Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan recently gave an important update about PM Kisan Samman Nidhi under the attention of the media. He proclaimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Bihar on 24th February 2025 when the 19th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi will be transferred to the accounts of eligible farmers. What is the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana?
The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a flagship scheme launched by the Central Government for supporting farmers financially. Under the scheme, the government transfers ₹6,000 per annum in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each to the eligible farmers. The amount is transferred directly into the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The last installment, or the 18th, was released on 15th October 2024.
Why is e-KYC mandatory for the PM-Kisan Yojana?
The government has made e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) mandatory for all beneficiaries to promote transparency and avoid fraud. This ensures that only eligible farmers receive the benefits and that the funds are directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

Farmers can get their e-KYC done through one of the following methods:
- OTP option e-KYC available online on PM KISAN portal/mobile app;
- Biometric – e-KYC, visiting the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or State Service Centre (SSK);
- Face Authentication – The PM Kisan mobile app allows you to carry out the process quickly and easily.
Important Note: All farmers who have not completed e-KYC urgently need to complete their e-KYC. Failing that, the 19th installment could be delayed.
Steps for PM Kisan Yojana Registration
If you have not as yet registered, here is the method you may apply:
- Online Registration: Registration can be done through the official PM-KISAN Portal.
- Visit a CSC: You may also apply for the scheme at your nearest Common Service Center (CSC) by going there in person.
- Contact Nodal Officers: You may call up the state governments’ nodal officers.
- Local Authorities: Patwaris or Revenue Officers may help you with the nearest office.
